Everyone who rides is familiar with the legendary 'Tail of the Dragon' in Deals Gap. Riders from all over the world flock to try their luck at riding what is billed as the most curves on any road in America.Fortunately for those of us living in the Ohio River Valley, we don't have to travel very far to experience some equally challenging roads. The SAMM- Tame the Baby Dragon ride begins in Uhrichville, Ohio. A convenient point for riders from Cleveland, Columbus or Pittsburgh alike. The ride begins by following OH800 south all the way to Woodsfield, Ohio. In Woodsfield, you pick up OH78 east and continue until you reach the intersection of OH78 and OH536. Here, you have reached the Baby Dragon.OH536 is approximately 12 miles long. It features 199 curves and more than 200 elevation changes as it drops to the Ohio River, some 700 feet below. It is lightly traveled, with excellent pavement from start to finish.OH536 terminates into OH7 in Hannibal, Ohio. From there, you ride north on OH7 to the village of Powhatan Point. There is an excellent place called the Riverside Restaurant on the right, down near the river where you can stop for lunch. After resting up and a quick refueling, You turn north onto OH148 and continue until you reach OH9. Turning north on OH9, you continue north until reaching the town of Cadiz, Oh. In all, it is a very invigorating ride, with plenty of twisties and elevation changes to challenge riders of every skill level.

The roads surrounding the BD were great, very technical, decent road conditions. It really would have been an incredible road if it weren't for these massive patches 2 feet long and road width, slippery as Hell and scattered among every curve apex and/or exit. There were easily 100 of them. I tucked my front tire on one, two others slid out their rear, but no one went down on one. We all cussed quite a bit though. Stick to OH800, 9 or 28!

I have ridden these roads many times. I do a group ride every October if weather permits. Last time was October 2010. Had a great time. There are more roads in that area, maybe I will post some up.

I have done this route several times, very good ride, you won't be disappointed. Very scenic and great road conditions. You won't be boared, the roads have a great mix of twisties and elevation changes, the ride up along the Ohio river is also quite pleasing. Take this ride you will be glad you did.
