This is a nice ride from the Savannah through southern forest, and coastal marshlands through Beaufort, SC and on to Hunting Island, State Park. Slow down and take a side street or two when you get to the historic district of Beaufort. Enjoy the beautiful 200 to 300 year old buildings. Cross the river and into farming islands and on to Hunting island. This state park is a very strange mixture of southern pines vines and palm trees. It is literally a jungle. If you are lucky you will see an Alligator near the visitor's center. Stop and take a minute to climb the light house and walk on the beach which is eroding away. Take a short walk along the beach through the dead trees. A very interesting experience. On the way home, stop at the small restaurant just off the island on the right and enjoy a flounder sandwich and sign a dollar bill and staple it to the wall. If you look closely, in the corner you will see mine, with a motorcycle on it. The route is a very relaxing, beautiful ride with plenty of history.
