This 32 mile stretch of highway is a tremendous motorcycle route for those how enjoy river run routes, 20-25 mile per hour twisty turns, and sections of straights through rural country side scenery. The trees on both sides of the roadway gives the illusion of traveling through a tunnel as the mid-day sun shines through the leaves almost hypnotizing effect. Only to be brought back to reality by the upcoming corner(s).

The first several miles of Hwy 229 is fairly busy because of all the fishermen, small fishing resorts, marinas and riverside homes. While it's tempting to take full advantage of the smooth and well-banked corners, prudence is advised and appreciated by the residents and re-creationists. There's ample opportunity to open it up a bit after the first eight or nine miles. At that point the road gets significantly twistier again, with several marked 25 mph curves, as you leave the river and climb over a hill. The next seven miles are simply fantastic!

This is a fun road. Please don't slide off the road, because no one would know for a long time. No cell coverage or other services.
