ROAD THIS RIDE APR 26TH 2009.
GREAT RIDE . YOU WILL SEE FARM LAND,YOU WILL HAVE THE CHANCE TO SEE BALD RIVER FALLS A SHORT RIDE OFF THE SKYWAY JUST LOOK FOR SIGN A SHORT PIECE UP THE SKYWAY ON RT SIDE. YOU WILL SEE VIEWS FROM 5300 FT FROM THE TOP OF SKYWAY. YOU WILL BE CHALLANGING THE DRAGON THAT HAS 318 CURVES IN A 11 MILES SO BE READY FOR THAT. AND WILL SEE GREAT VEIWS FROM ON TOP OF THE FOOTHILLS PARKWAY. AND GREAT RIDE THROUGH WEARS VALLY.

I RECOMMEND THAT ONLY EXP RIDERS TAKE THIS ROUTE. LOTS OF TIGHT CURVES AND STEEP GRADES. AND I ALSO RECOMEND THAT YOU PLAN ON STARTING EARLY IN THE MORNING IF YOU WANT TO MAKE THE BEST OUT OF THE RIDE THEY ARE A GREAT DEAL OF PHOTO OPP SO PLEASE TAKE A CAMRA OR CAMCORDER. I LEFT HOME ABOUT 7:00 AM . ATE BREAKFEST STARTED OUT 129 ABOUT 9:00 AND IT WAS AROUND 6:00 PM WHEN I GOT HOME.

HAVE FUN AND REMEMBER TO KEEP TE SHINY SIDE UP AND THE RUBBER SIDE DOWN

I always take the big loop out of Gatlinburg so I can hit Moonshiner 28 and sometimes take it all the way to Brevard before turning around.

Did this ride in March 2011. Long day, and no traffic due to the snow at the top of the Cherahala leg. None on the roads, but 7" on the grass. It was warming and snow melt was running across the pavement.

Those are some of the best roads in this area. I agree that seasoned riders with stamina to ride all day are best suited for this route.

My brother and I road the Skyway and the Dragon last year. Probably 2 of the best roads we have ridden. The skyway for it's long sweeping curves, and the dragon for it's tight twists. We plan on another trip to ride the Blueridge Parkway this year, and will do the dragon again.
