The 40,270,61 portion is the Highway route for achieving a faster commute.I usually take the hwy. route on the way up and allow myself a leisurely pace for the ride home. The Mark Twain Lake area has lots to offer with great fishing in a not so busy Corp.of Engineers lake. Plenty of places to stay/eat with a hometown slower pace. Hannibal has a gazzillion things to do with a rich historical past. A sure stop for all bikers is 'lovers leap' just outside of downtown on 79....awesome view of the old town and river. There are several rest/scenic pullouts on 79 that boast similar panoramic river views.
