I had ridden from South Florida, through Alabama, into Tennessee where I did participate in the Tail of the Dragon. After all of the hoopla leading up to the tail, I was a little disappointed in what it turned out to be. Now, don't get me wrong, it was challenging, but too many sport bikes, cars and trucks. Not a good motorcycle road in my opinion. After leaving the Dragon behind, I drove into Georgia where a friend took e on this ride. While taking you through the Blue Ridge Mountains, you go uphill and downhill with more s-turns and switchbacks than one can count. There are also several pull offs where you can actually take in the beautiful view of the mountains. I was fortunate enough to ride this in early November, so the fall colors were in abundance, but it was also colder than I had ever experienced. The upside to cruisers? Very little traffic while I was there. The entire time we drove on 60, there were maybe 15 cars and/or motorcycles.

My wife and I did a modified version of this ride today. It was such a beautiful day trip. We started at our home in Canton and rode to Dahlonega where we had lunch. Then we rode up the 60 to Blue Ridge. It was a fantastic ride. We went out together on the Can-Am we rented. I will be going back on my Shadow and will be taking my step-son with me. Had a great time.

This is one of the best areas to be on a motorcycle, as many others have shown this route, and others branching off from it, there is no bad way to go ride! The town of Blue Ridge is actually considered by most to be the southern tip of the Blue Ridge Mountain Range. From there traveling northeast along the Blue Ridge Mountain Range, it is scooter paradise!!

The best of the best. These folks have ridden and shared more roads than any other ORJ member this month.
