This is the ride I usually take on Sunday mornings. It's a good way to kill a few hours, and hits up what I think are the best motorcycle roads in north eastern Illinois: Sheridan Road, Gilmer Road & Belvidere.176 is also a great road, and sometimes an alternate route I will take is 176 west (instead of hitting 41) all the way to 120 (Belvidere), and then taking that east to Gilmer. It's a much longer ride though.

I did this ride earlier this week ( Sept 2013) It is a Fun ride with some twisties, and lots of high end real estate to ogle. Watch your speed and be aware several sections are under construction which can result in stoppages where a single lane is open.

I was wondering if this route was a ton of traffic? would be nice to take a ride up along the lake but if it's stop and go the whole time I'll pass. I'm not a local and am looking for some good day trips. Thanks. I had to rate it in order to post the comment.
