I have planned this ride for sunset/dusk by starting out into the country while it is still day light for some good scenery, but finishing with a drink/dinner downtown. I am finishing up Hwy 421 with a nice easy ride into downtown. Elm Street in downtown Greensboro is a happening place with tons of bars, diners, and outdoor spots for a nice coffee or glass of wine. You're also only blocks away from the Grasshoppers baseball stadium. Finishing up down E. Wendover/Hwy 70 is a nice easy finish to a great ride and avoids the dangers of I-40. Mt. Hope Church Road is a more direct route from Hwy 70 into the country, but the little stretch by Cedarcrest golf course is one of my favorite run of twisties in the neighborhood.

I found this route on this website and love it! In fact, it's turned into a Sunday night ritual. I have one suggestion though - instead of coming into Greensboro on 421, try Liberty Road instead (runs parallel to 421). It has more of a "back country" feel to it, and it still spits you out close to downtown. Also, as you're going down Liberty Road, look for Angelia's Pizza on your right near Forest Oaks. They have great pizza and (of course) ice cold beer.

First of all, I'm loving it finding other riders and routes in the Greensboro area.... Thanks!!!
Secondly, I have done most of this route and agree that it is beautiful and peaceful, and the downtown venue is nice as well. However I do no like the surface of Mt. Hope Church Rd. Is it just me or do you not find it a pretty rough ride? I'm always open to new adventures... going to take the Greensboro to Micheal's Taverm Sunday morning ride pretty soon... it sounds very nice.
