After visiting the Canadian Heritage Airplane Museum in Sault Ste. Marie you will travel north on Highway 17. The route has many long sweeping curves and high hills as it skirts the shores of Lake Superior. Panoramic views will invite you to stop. Fast flowing rivers cross the highway adding to this delightful trip. Stop at the many beaches and become a 'Superior' swimmer. Visit the provincial parks for a picnic lunch. The Canadian Woodcarver (touristy) has a spectacular gift shop, gas and food. Kathryn cove is very picturesque. Stop at Old Woman Bay and walk down to the stony beach. Continue on to Wawa and take a picture of the big goose, view Magpie Falls, or visit Young's General store for a dill pickle. Stay overnight at one of the many motels before returning to Sault or heading to Chapleau or to White River (Home of Winnie the Pooh)

You can't go wrong on this trip unless you stop too many times and miss the boat. To enjoy more, start at Duluth MN and take the Lakeshore drive around Lake Superior and end up at the starting gate as I did in 2000.

The best of the best. These folks have ridden and shared more roads than any other ORJ member this month.
