leaves small town of Sutherlin and goes over the coast range dropping you into Elkton along the Umpqua River--Arleens Cafe is the place to eat in Elkton. Follows the river down thru Scottsburg which was the old drop off point for the shipping passage in the 1800s untill you reach the bays in Reedsport. travel north from Reedsport and see the north Oregon coast along with the Oregon Dunes Nat Park and see many small towns with coastal flavor. Can turn East in Florance and that route is the mountain trip to Eugene and another way to I-5 South you go thru Coos Bay which was the old shipping port of Oregon pre 1990s and can stop at the Mill Casino and head east from there towards Roseburg and I-5 you will photo Elk at the Dean Creek Elk reservation near Reedsport and of the Winchester Light house and millions of trees and water everywhere

Awesome road. We saw elk as they arose from their nights sleep. We see elk often at home but you can never get enough of them. We did this road in the opposite direction. Both the wife & I would do this road again in a heartbeat. We had breaky at Scottsburg, very good. the only place in town. Nice twisties and great pavement.
