This was the second day of a two-day trip. We're from the Dallas area; so we spent the night at the Diamond Oaks Inn Bed & Breakfast in Murfreesboro, AR. The folks are great, the rooms are beautiful, and to top it off, it's affordable. Check them out at www.diamondoaksinn.com.From Murfreesboro, it's a great trip to Mena where the Talimena trail begins. There's some good scenery and nice roads, so have your camera ready. The Talimena Trail is 50+ miles of curves, elevation changes, and beautifully smooth blacktop. The road runs along the tops of the mountains, so there's lots of times when you can look down into the valley on both sides. We had to get back home, so we had to hurry, but you could spend an entire day on the 50ish miles of Talimena. There are several scenic vistas with places to pull over and take some amazing pictures. I recommend that you go in late October and see the fall colors. It seems from the traffic, that everybody starts in Talihina, OK and goes toward Mena, AR. We started in Mena, and had VERY little traffic on our side; so I recommend going in that direction (east to west).I can't say enough good things about this route. It's the best motorcycle road I've found in this part of the country!
