I haven't physically rode this route, but I've driven it with my car. The ride through the waterfront gives you an opportunity to show off your bike during the summer. Take your time on the way down, 3A has some beautiful scenerey, and it's not particularly traveled. Plus there is one part that is somewhat twisty and hilly, which is my faovrite part with my car.Oh and before you hop on route 3. Be sure to stop in the British Beer Company, it's right near the on ramp. They've got great beer and great pizza. My favorite is the North End with no broccoli. After you are full up, it's straight up route 3. Take her slow at the beginning because it is beautiful at first, but once you hit exit four open that baby up and drive her home.I love this route cause she's short, sweet, and she's got good eats. Perfect for that 'I just got outta work, I'm hungry and ready to ride' situation.Without stopping for food, she'll take you about 45 min. If you stop, well, you may be awhile.

Getting on and off in Plymouth is OK.. but 3A continues to be nice and twisty between Duxbury and Marshfield, so as a suggestion, if you are going North on Rte 3, don't get off at exit 6 in Plymouth, continue to exit 10 for Duxbury, turn right and you are back on 3A North.. You can continue that all the way up to Rte 123 in Scituate, taker a left at that rotary and take 123 (North)back to Rte. 53 a great place to eat on that corner - the Eating place, it's called)turn left on Rte 53, about 1/2 mile to rte 3

I have ridden this route many times, when I lived there and now when I return to visit I still find myself doing the trip with some small changes well worth the time.

I live in Weymouth, a couple towns North but I've ridden this route and its a good one. If you have time and want to stretch out the return trip, Long Pond Road runs parallel to RT 3 and adds a lot of winds and hills.
