This is a great run to blow off steam and melt away the stress of everyday life. It has everything, two lane twisties, hills, valleys, trees, four lane super slabs, country backroads (paved of course), small towns and bigger cities. Plan to spend the entire day, bring some cash for any shopping you might want to do in the small towns and have lunch (or dinner) at numerous places from chain restaurants to Mom and Pop joints. Don't forget (like I did) to bring your camera...there's lots of interesting things to see along the way, too. There's an artesian well outside of Stonewall on 512, that is a great place to splash fresh cold water on your face and have a pic-nic lunch. If you feel like bedding down for the night and making a two day run out of it, the trip takes you right next to Clarkco State Park outside of Quitman. The cabins there are very nice and there's a beautiful lake, there as well. Also along the route is Archusa State Water Park among several other parks and interesting pull-offs. They say the best things in life are free...well, I say the best things in life are as cheap as a few tanks of petrol and this trip holds true to that...the total trip is just over 430 miles and can cost you no more than a couple of tanks of gas on your ride of choice.
