I'd been hearing a lot about KY 10 in Kentucky from the sportbike crowd and was looking for an opportunity to go and check it out. Fifty five degrees in December seemed like reason enough! So, after putting a couple of layers on, I hopped on the motorcycle to explore state route KY 10 in Kentucky. I put 4-6 hours down for the route because you will definitely want to spend some time looking around Maysville, Kentucky. Really though, if you want to skip the town you could complete this road in 2-4 hours or less depending on how fast you decide to push it. This road definitely lends itself to 'pushing it.'Here's what we saw along the way:A pretty typical start to any type of rural backroad trip you might take in the midwest...
Right off the bat, we were already off to a pretty good start with gently curving roads and great pavement. I could feel the motorcycle running a little hotter...
Frankly, this shot is boring, but I wanted to put it in here to give everyone a feel for the road. Pretty gently curving the whole way. In the beginning the road also runs along a lot of streams (off to the left out of the picture).
Not only is this road fun for its curves, most of it runs along the top of a ridge. This allows for some great views for most of the route.
Being a pretty rural route, these are the types of sites you can expect the whole way.
More of those great curves, if you ride a sport bike, or any type of more aggressive motorcycle you'll find yourself twisting that throttle a little more than usual on this road...
More curves... wanting to ride yet?
This following series of pictures is by far my favorite from this route. This old abandoned house was literally 20 feet from the road and made for a great photo opportunity!

The motorcycle is really looking good in this series...
Here's the last one.
This was at a really cool old graveyard about half way through the route.
Apparently this road goes through a lot of tobacco farms. There are barns the whole way with tobacco hanging to dry in the barn. The best thing about it is that you can smell the tobacco as you ride by. It reminded me a lot of the tobacco rooms they use to have in the back of pipe stores - pretty cool.
This is the same barn from a different angle.
Another shot of a barn with all of the 'windows' open to dry the tobacco hanging to dry inside.
I ran across this sign towards the end of the ride.
What can I say, I really enjoyed this road.

I turned around at Maysville, Kentucky. You should definitely plan on stopping to take a stroll around the town. This historic little town is definitely worth it.
My Take: I really enjoyed this road! It's pretty smooth, with lots of curves and some great sites to see along the way. This road lends itself to both leisurely cruising or some aggresive sport riding. Whatever your cup of tea you can't go wrong with this road!To top it all of, a stop in Maysville, Kentucky is definitely a prerequisite just to see the sites of this historic town.

This route is practically in my back yard. I have ridden this route dozens of times. There are some bad pavement spots in the beginning, so be careful

This is an awesome road if you like lots of curves. If you want to make a big loop out of Cincinnati area you can KY-8 along to Ohio River to Maysville, KY or go down the Ohio side and take the ferry across the river to Kentucky at Augusta.

KY10 is one of my favorite routes in the Cincinnati tristate area. I compare any road I ride on to The Blue Ridge Parkway as a benchmark ( 5star in my opinion) and while this one is certainly not as well maintained or scenic, it does serve up plenty of twisties.

Just rode it over the Labor Day weekend and still not much traffic. DO watch out for the occasional vehicle you come across in the curves as almost everyone of them drifted over the double yellow line. This is an awesome road for this part of the country and it does compare well to the BRP area. On a big HD touring rig, this road will definitely wear you out... which is a wonderful thing! Simply put, this is an awwsome road that I will definitely be riding again and again.

This ia a great road from Alexandria almost all the way to Maysville where it straightens out a lot. I ride it at least 3 or 4 times each season.
