Topeka, ks to Joplin,mo

I enjoy this route to Joplin. It keeps you off the main highways and you can relax and take in the great views of the country land. Points of interest include Lecompton,ks, Clinton lake damn and Hillsdale Lake damn, also Rantoul,ks (about 3miles past the stop sign leaving town their is an old runway with a plane on a concrete pedastal. If you look to the east you will see a salvage yard full of fuselages and wings for large commercial planes. On the west side of the road is a guy that has two DC3's in his back yard, and one DC4. On your way out of Rantoul you will come to Osawatomie,ks. They have a museum and a several other attractions. I took you on a road that crosses a large creek with a waterfall. Feel free to pull off to the west side of the road is a parking lot just before you get to the bridge. You can take a break and walk down to the water. It is a great place to stop. Then head into town and fill up and grab a bite to eat. From there head on to Hwy 7, I really enjoy this highway. Have a safe ride...Joe.
