This is undoubtedly one of my most favorite routes of all time. This route consists of three roads, UT 95 'The Trail of the Ancients' from Blanding, Utah to Hanksville, Utah; Utah 24 from Hanksville, Utah to Torrey, Utah; Utah 12 from Torrey, Utah into Tropic, Utah and Bryce Canyon National Park. These roads are unbelievably picturesque with red rock formations between Blanding and Hanksville then you will experience the 'Grand Staircase' on Utah 12. I definitely try to ride this route at least once a year. If I could, I would probably ride it once a month it is that beautiful. The total one-way route is 273 miles and is doable in one day. It makes for a nice 3 day trip, with Bryce Canyon National Park being the destination. A day over, a day at Bryce Canyon National Park and a day back. A note of caution - this is all open range country and we have on two separate occasions come up on cows suddenly in the road or on the edge of the road so be aware. There is no gas between Blanding, Utah and Hanksville, Utah, a 123 mile segment - so I would recommend having a full tank after before leaving Blanding. There is gas in Hanksville, Torrey and Escalante. Normally we stop in Escalante to fill-up before proceeding on to Bryce Canyon National Park which is outside of Tropic, Utah. Other than the national park hotels, there are only two hotels at Bryce Canyon, and we have stayed at Ruby's Best Western both times. As with anything close to a National Park, the prices tend to soar. But the lodging and the food is quite acceptable. The most significant thing to happen on this route is my wife and a fiend's wife (in separate years) both exclaimed as they were riding this route that a motorcycle is the only way to see America.

This is a motorcycle ride in the state of Utah. This motorcycle route has 5 scenery characteristics and other road conditions to help you plan your road trip. This motorcycle map was created by Rick_TN in November. Click here to see other Motorcycle Roads by Rick_TN

I didn't ride this entire route - I wish we could have. We rode from Bluff, UT up 261 (the Moki Dugway) to 95 . Our plan was to visit the Natural Bridges park - but, thanks to government go. However, the ride east on 95 from Natural Bridges Park to Blanding was my FAVORITE ride on a 10 day trip thru Colorado, Utah, Arizona and New Mexico. Going to Utah was a last minute decision due to cancellation of reservations at Grand Canyon. Some tough competition - but, it was my favoriate road of the entire trip. So glad we went -- LOVED it!

The best of the best. These folks have ridden and shared more roads than any other ORJ member this month.
