A fun tour of the RTP area of North Carolina. We start at NC State University, then head out to the country to visit Raven Rock State Park. If you feel up to a hike, Raven Rock is a great place to do so.After Raven Rock, the route heads up some relatively twisty roads through Harris Lake and then Jordan Lake. This is easily the most 'technical' part of the tour, but it's not like we are talking about Deals Gap. Take it slow and even the newest of riders will have no trouble. After Jordan Lake, we head up to UNC Chapel Hill. There are no shortage of places to eat or grab some coffee here, and I would definitely recommend that you do so. You will pass Ye Olde Waffle House on Franklin St, which is very good. Now it is time for a short, urban ride up to Duke. I took a relatively direct route for this segment, but if you are hurting for some more country riding there is plenty to be done by heading out towards Hillsborough/Eno River State Park. In any case, the area just around Duke University is absolutely gorgeous and a great place to ride slow and take in the scenery. I recommend spending some time riding around here.Once you are done, time to head up for our last lake tour through Falls Lake. These roads are generally not very busy, and I rarely see our law enforcement friends through this part, so it is a good place to get on the throttle if you so desire. After Falls Lake, it is time to head back down towards NCSU. Nothing very eventful on this final leg. If you are looking to extend the ride, there are some nice twisty roads heading out towards Wake Forest and Youngsville before heading back.Have fun and stay safe.
