The roads are all two lane but well maintained. Road this in November it was about 65 when we left Tucson got down to mid 50s over parts of the ride. You see all different types of terrain on this route, you start in the desert around Tucson, transition into high country grasslands from Sonorita to Whetstone then back to desert as you get closer to Tombstone. Would like to ride this in the spring when the grasses are green. The ride itself is about 2hours depending on your desire to look around. We did get stuck on the side of the raod for 15-30 minutes waiting for an oversize load to come thru when we were on AZ83. The state policeman said it was a daily occurence. We spent a nice day in Tombstone then road back the same route except straight down AZ83 to I-10 then back to Tucson.

This is a great run. Enjoyed the ride to and from, great time in Tombstone. Best to ride it early, eat dinner in Tombstone and take supper back in Tucson!

This is a GREAT ride. We live in Tucson and have done it many times. Sadly, Augusta Resources wants to build an open pit copper mine along hwy 83. That will effectively destroy that road as a scenic hwy not only because of the open pit, but more importantly because of the mine traffic on 83 ruining the integrity of the road and making it far less safe to ride or even drive. If you care, let your voice be heard. Go to the Save the Scenic Santa Ritas web site to learn more.

The best of the best. These folks have ridden and shared more roads than any other ORJ member this month.
