This is a really neat road for motorcycles. Most of it is one way and it is all one lane. There are some really cool sites to be seen on this short road. It takes you under the New River bridge, down to the river and back up the other side. Once at the bottom you can watch people raft through some rapids or just enjoy the view of the bridge from below(it is really high). Once across the river there are some nice waterfalls once you start back up the hill. Look for a pull off on the left as your going up. From there you continue on up the hill, under the bridge and back to Fayeteville. Use caution if you go on a bike because there are some gravel on the road and really tight turns. This road is well worth it if your visiting the bridge anyways. I would not go just for this road.

I have always wanted to take my bike on this road under the bridge...but now that I've done it...I will hike next time. I am a 66 yr. old experienced female rider with 75,000 miles under my belt.However...I was in over my head on this one...(Once you start you are committed.. no turning back.)I ride a 1200gs and was fully loaded with touring gear. sidebags and tail bag. I really had a tough time negotiating the super tight switchbacks...nearly dropped the bike three times! I've done the Dragon, the Snake, Meat cove in N.S. and worse and loved them all! This little villain gave me the shakes. Never again. (My husband on his big Adventurer seemingly had no trouble.) He could hear me swearing and hyperventilating thru every turn on the bluetooth...We had a good laugh later over a glass of wine in the safety of Hawknest resort. I prefer the view from above...Beware.

We rode to WV Labor Day weekend and found this road by luck. This road, though not very long, is not for the faint-of-heart or the inexperienced rider. Some hairpin curves, shear drop-offs on the side, loose gravel on the road and grade changes. If I wasn't on the brakes, I was on the throttle looking for power. This is truly a heart pounding road to ride

Just returned from an 1100 mile tour of west virginia and ohio, spent a day getting to the New River Gorge, The road down and back up was awesome, However the trip there along route 60 heading east out of Charleston was even more exiting (5 stars) I would say it compares to the Dragons tail at Deals gap Tennesee, I am an avid rider with more than 60,000 miles riden on 3 different bikes over 25 years. Just rode my vulcan 800 on route 60 and more than once thought I would have to clean my seat "if you get my point" Would highly reccomend this trip. 64 e out of Charleston, take route 60 (midland trail) east to 19 where you will see signs to the bidge, follow the signs down to the bottom and back up the other side, Not for a novice rider!!!
