I started out on hwy 52 noorth to acess hwy 268 west. I took this hwy past rolling hills and farmland almost to the foothills. There are two motorcycle campgrounds along hwy 268 near Ferguson NC and the W Scott Kerr resevoir. I hooked with hwy 321 south to hwy 64, this is a very scenic and popular ride almost the entire year. It passes thru many scenic and pretty little communties. Lake Lure and Highlands are the top two (in my opinion) on this route. I took lots of pictures and hope you enjoy what I post. While all of this was a great ride, the Cherohalla was by far the best. The Cherohalla starts in Robbinsville, NC and goes to the Tellico

This is a really nice, easy ride to do. There are other more scenic and twisty roads that this route parallels but it wouldn't be easily done in two days if you added them in. The reason for not giving it a better rating is because of all the interstate travel on I-40 on the return. I-40 is treacherous in the rain towards Black Mtn heading east. Lots of truck traffic as well, especially between Asheville and Morganton. The Cherohala Skyway is worth the ride alone though. Be sure to stop at the Visitor center in Tellico Plains just as you begin the Skyway. They have a really nice museum and gift shop with maps, brochures and the like. Overall this is a nice ride to get familarized with the Western NC mountains.

The best of the best. These folks have ridden and shared more roads than any other ORJ member this month.
