The West Waco Texas Rangers Ride. This is a Do It Yourself Ride BLOGG. I will explain the location and you will need to go to the listed link to get the details. You can read all the information provided or just look at the map?Village creek seperates Old RT's garage and mine(The younger and better looking ST)so our first link is a litte history about our area of North Central TEXAS US of A.http://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/VV/btv1.htmlI added this one just for a little more info about the area.http://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/RR/rbrbc.htmlSome of the readers may not have been BLESSED to experience our beloved TEXAS, so I have attached this link for you poor souls.http://www.traveltex.com/This ride is going to take us to The Texas Ranger Museum on the Brazo's River in Waco, TEXAS. The following link should give you all the details and maybe you will include it as a stop on your next ride through our little state?http://www.texasranger.org/Since this ride is an all day one, the riders make many stops for Hot Choclate, Ice cream, Potty and Lunch. The riders tell us it is a Law in Texas if you passby WEST, you are required to Eat Chez food or at least stop for a Kolache.http://west-tx.com/http://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/WW/hgw6.htmlWe ride out of the DF/W area on FM roads and the old highways that have been replaced with Interstates(TX81 US77). This is the way to see the country and enjoy the ride. FM157 to Maypearl then we ride FM308 through the blackland farm land that made cotton king. We turned West at Penelope and made it to West to take a rest next to the heavy traveled railroad tracks along Main street. We understand the Nemecke Sasuage and Chez fried potatos were excellent but the Apple Strudel was to die for!To avoid the Interstate, we back tracked toward Tours and then Leroy before Elm Mott and into the City of Waco. This motorcycle riding is dangerous enough without crazy drivers. Old RT was able to apply enough front brake(thanks to new pads and a new Dunlop tire) to avoid a Red Suburban making a right turn from the center lane in old RT's path. Good job RT with a little help from 'FAB'(Rock n Roll is here to stay) pulling on that brake lever. We made it to the Texas Ranger Museum after a short tour of the Baylor Campus and downtown Waco. http://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/WW/hdw1.htmlWe made it out of Waco by way of FM933 taking us right by another of the riders favorite stops, Homestead Heritage. They serve the best Homemade Ice Cream(Sorry Benham home of Blue Bell)in Texas. Keep this one on the list of stops. http://www.homesteadheritage.com/Our route back home takes us over the dam at Lake Aquila and then in to Hillsboro and old highway US 81.http://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/AA/hla23.htmlhttp://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/HH/hfh5.htmlWe have to get on the interstate sometimes and just North of Grandview old US81 is consumed by Interstate I-35W so we are forced to run along at 75 - 80 with all the other idiots, for thirteen miles to FM 917 East. Winding back roads through Lillian, Forrest Hill and Handley to the house. http://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/LL/hll42.html http://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/HH/hvh15.html http://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/FF/hef2.htmlhttp://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/VV/hlv8.htmlI hope this works for you and you make TEXAS a ride destination, I bet you will enjoy!C-yal on the next ride..We are heading for the Hills... of TEXAS,Old ST1100
